A normally peaceful neighborhood in Hanford, California, was rocked by a tragic incident early Sunday morning that resulted in the deaths of two men in what authorities are describing as an apparent murder-suicide.

According to the Hanford Police Department, officers responded shortly after 4:00 a.m. to a home on University Avenue near West Grangeville Boulevard after receiving a 911 call. During the call, dispatchers reportedly heard a heated argument coming from inside the residence, prompting an immediate response.

When officers arrived, they could still hear a disturbance inside the home. After announcing their presence and attempting to intervene, the situation quickly escalated.

Police say 33-year-old Vincent Diaz died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly after officers made contact. A woman inside the home was safely escorted out by responding officers.

During a search of the residence, authorities found 25-year-old Adrian Valdovinos in a bedroom with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations suggest Diaz had forced entry into the home prior to the shooting. Officials identified Diaz as the woman’s ex-husband, while Valdovinos was her current partner. The case is being treated as a domestic violence-related incident.
