Frances Olene Britt Sabbatini, Death: Family And Friends Mourns Loss

Frances Olene Britt Sabbatini, Death Obituary:

The community of Leland, Mississippi is coming together in sorrow and remembrance following the passing of Frances Olene Britt Sabbatini, who died on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 87 years old and, in her final moments, was surrounded by the love of her family—a reflection of the life she so faithfully gave to others.

Born in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to Hardy Beck and Frances Griffin Britt, Frances later made Leland her lifelong home. It was there that she grew up, attended Leland High School, and built a life rooted in family, faith, and service. In 1956, she married Eugene Sabbatini, beginning a partnership that would shape the years ahead until his passing in 1995.

Frances devoted much of her life to caring for children, a calling she embraced with extraordinary patience and love. For 33 years, she operated a daycare that became a second home to countless families. To many, she was simply “Nanny”—a name spoken with affection and gratitude by generations of children who found comfort, guidance, and kindness in her care. Her influence extended far beyond her own family, leaving a lasting imprint on the lives she helped shape.

Her faith was another cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Leland, she was actively involved in her “Joy” Sunday School class and found strength and fellowship within her church community. Those who worshipped alongside her remember her as someone whose quiet faith was reflected in her actions and the way she cared for others.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Sabbatini; her sisters, Betty Walker and Marie Morlino; and her brothers, Jack Scott and Hardy Mae Britt. Though their absence was part of her journey, she carried their memory with her always.

She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her legacy: her children Lisa Sabbatini, Krista S. Fratesi (Louis), and Raymond L. Sabbatini (Cyndi); her sister Joyce Burt; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a wide circle of extended family members. Even her beloved grand dog, Max, was part of the home she filled with warmth and care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Leland, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home.

Frances Olene Britt Sabbatini will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her unwavering kindness, and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, and she will be deeply missed.
