Headshotking Chopo, Identified as Victim in Busch Stadium Stabbing, Death Obituary:
A fatal stabbing early Monday morning at Busch Stadium has left the St. Louis community shaken after what authorities describe as a dispute between two overnight contract workers turned deadly.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded around 3:00 a.m. to the 700 block of Clark Avenue following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they discovered a 27-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
While officials have not yet released his legal identity, friends and family have identified the victim as “Headshotking Chopo,” a nickname believed to reflect an online persona. Loved ones describe him as a young man with strong relationships and aspirations, whose life was cut short during a workplace conflict.
Police confirmed that a 65-year-old male coworker was taken into custody without incident. The suspect, who was also working as a third-party contractor at the stadium, is being held pending formal charges as homicide detectives continue their investigation.
The incident occurred in a restricted area near the stadium’s players’ parking lot, a section not accessible to the public. Authorities emphasized that the violence stemmed from a personal dispute and posed no ongoing threat to fans or visitors.
Police spokesperson Mitch McCoy addressed public concerns, stating the situation was isolated and could have happened in any workplace environment, despite occurring at one of the city’s most iconic venues.
In a statement, the St. Louis Cardinals confirmed the incident involved contracted workers during overnight operations and assured the public that stadium security systems were not compromised.
Investigators are now working to determine what led to the confrontation, including whether the individuals had prior conflicts and whether any external factors contributed to the escalation.
The victim’s legal identity is expected to be released once next of kin have been officially notified.
